4 September 2026
It’s the first Friday of spring for 2026.
Today was the weekly hair washing day so there was no snoozing of the alarm. With hair washed and dried I chose appropriate attire for the day which involved an online meeting, a funeral, and a celebratory dinner. It’s all about the accessories.
The online meeting was cancelled. The funeral was not.
It was for my childhood neighbour.
Memories of yesteryear returned.
It was a beautiful ceremony and I’m so glad I attended.
No matter the person who has passed, I always get a lump in my throat.
Funerals are important.
Showing up is important. (It is to me in any case.)
It’s a sign of respect.
Respect is my highest value. I don’t know why but it is.
I’ve left jobs and even friendships because I’ve lost respect. The latter is a death in itself. But all things must end whether through choice, chance or destiny.
That’s life.
The celebratory dinner was a belated celebration for our 17th wedding anniversary. Our marriage has been a wild ride. But we continue, and I am grateful.
