I feel like I’m having a good run of late. I used to write about things that troubled me and writing helped me work through stuff a lot. But I come here each day for my ten minutes of writing, I reflect on the day, and there’s only good things to say. Things are going so well, it almost feels strange. Crazy how we become so used to there being problems in life that we question when things are consistently good.

The day began with watching our almost-11-month-old grandson at swimming lessons. It’s become a bit of a regular for Saturday mornings and the joy only increases each time. He is amazing. I get that we all think our children and grandchildren are fabulous but he really is. So good!

This afternoon I got to catch up with my siblings. My two elder brothers, my elder sister and I met at the cemetery to honour dad for Father’s Day. My brothers are in their 70s. My sister her 60’s. Give me another year and I’ll be joining her. We still willingly get together to remember mum and dad for all the usual, significant occasions. We’re close. That’s so good.

And tonight. Seven of us friends met for dinner and chats. Some of these friendships span 40 years. It’s simple. It’s genuine. There is an unspoken knowing that we will be friends for the rest of our lives. And that’s so bloody good.

To top off the day’s goodness, Adelaide played Bulldogs in the elimination final and our Crows boys got up. My dad, in his second language of English, would say “Up to Crows!” as opposed to “Go the Crows!” My siblings and I said that to each other today as we said our farewells.

Happy Fathers Day dad.

Happy Fathers Day Dave.

Today was so good.
