29 August 2026
Today is my wedding anniversary and I didn’t get to see my husband. Dave’s unwell. Too sick for visitors even. My mind goes back to our wedding day 17 years ago which was rainy, with dark clouds and very, very windy. At times our marriage has been as turbulent as was the weather that day. But we continue to work at creating sunnier days, which makes me happy. We can celebrate our anniversary in a belated fashion soon and I look forward to that.
Speaking of sunny days, today was fantastic! It was the kind of day where you sense summer is not that far. There was a pep in peoples’ steps.
I must admit though, I woke a little dusty after a fun night at the opening of the 2026 Contemporary springART exhibition. More drinks were not on the cards today. But what do you know… after returning to the exhibition this morning with friends who kindly supported me with their presence, I went to brunch/lunch with a couple of those friends and they supported me even further in sharing a bottle of champagne. We then had a change of venue as we chased the sunshine, where a mohito ‘suddenly’ appeared.
We chatted about the goodness of fresh mint, Walter Mitty and business ideas (amongst other things), and then a gin sour - and then another - was delivered to our table.
A totally unscripted afternoon; today was one of those rare days where my plans (of wedding anniversary celebrations) fell through and I had hours to spare.
As the three of us friends sat in the sun, sipping cocktails and contemplating how we could have been much more productive spending the afternoon doing other things, John Lennon came to mind.
Indeed Johnny boy, indeed.
