Hey there and welcome! With just four weeks until opening night of our inaugural visual art exhibition Here Comes The Sun it’s an understatement to say that we’re excited.

Since looking each other in the eye and exclaiming “Let’s do this!” Nella and I have been doing what artists do; gathering inspiration and stealing moments from busy, everyday life to create works of art to share with you, Adelaide, Australia, (oh what the hell…) the world! We appreciate your interest and support and hope you enjoy reading our news.

About the Artists - Nella and Sue

Nella De Pizzol

Nella and I met in year 5 primary school. At times we shared the same home class, which means we have some classic photos together. In this pic we are second row from the back standing either side of the boy in the middle. Oh the memories! We had our Italian heritage and height in common, and this meant we swore a lot on the netball court. Or at least I did!

Immediately following high school Nella attended art school. She also completed a Bachelor of Interior Design and gained work with a multi award winning design firm. Marriage and children became Nella’s main focus but at her core, art has always remained.

This week I got to see what Nella is producing for Here Comes The Sun. It’s outstanding.

As for me my career began in photography and advertising but took a massive step sideways when I travelled to London during the 1990s. Since that time administration and executive support has been my ‘norm’, but like Nella, my intrinsic creative nature couldn’t be denied. I picked up the camera again in 2014. Since then I have had some bucket list moments, photographing AFL, the Socceroos and just recently, the birth of three babies. It’s a strange mix; sport, birth and lifestyle, but that’s what I’m passionate about.

Why ‘Here Comes The Sun’?

We go back more than twenty years when Nella and her music-mad husband Anthony drove home from hospital with their first-born Elise. Anthony had deliberately cued The Beatles’ Here Comes The Sun as song number one on the car’s playlist. It was the first sweet tune to be played to the ears of not only Elise but also her siblings Zali and Marcus. Even pooch Larry has been initiated to the De Pizzol household with this tune!

Anyone who knows me can vouch I am a Beatles nut. When Nella told me this story it was a no-brainer Here Comes The Sun was to be the subject on which to draw inspiration for our inaugural visual art exhibition.

Nella says “I could not have picked a more perfect song on which to base our exhibition. When I hear it, it brings back so many intense emotions.”
